Lianyungang is located at the hub position at where China’s two transitional belts intersect, one is along the east coast from north to south, the other is from the western inland to the eastern coastal areas. It is the most convenient and economic seaport as well as an international hub that undertakes the continental bridge transportation between the west Pacific bank and the east Atlantic bank.

Lianyungang adjoins the Yangtze River Delta in the south and the Bohai Rim in the north, opens to the Pacific Ocean in the east, faces Japan and Korea, and connects Central Asia and Europe as well as China’s central and western regions through Longhai-Lanxin railway in the west. As a hub that links the north and the south, the east and the west, the city has an important strategic status in China’s coordinated development of regional economy. Lianyungang is the only golden near-sea inland area under limited development in the coastal regions of east China, the overlapping area of two significant regional development strategies launched by Jiangsu provincial government to develop both the East Longhai Railway Industrial Belt and the Coastal Economic Belt, and one of the three regional international trade centers in Jaingsu province, it plays a leading role in revitalizing North Jiangsu.
